Let's say you've written a story. Said story contains an original character, an Elf. And your brand new Elf needs a name. Who're you gonna call? Hopefully not the Ghost Busters, because they'd really suck at making up Elvish names. Probably. I mean, maybe Egon's read the Silmarillion, but I wouldn't count on those other three. So it looks like you're stuck with me. For now, anyway. Unless you want to go look up some other Elvish name site. Which would just take time and energy. And if you're here instead of learning Sindarin all on your own so you can make up your own names without my help, then wasting time and energy probably isn't high on your list of priorities. But luckily, I almost know what I'm doing. Note usage of the word "almost" there. In any case, the first thing to decide is whether to name your Elf in Quenya or Sindarin. If you don't know which language to use, this handy Microsoft Paint flowchart might help. ![]() If you came up with Quenya, you can happily continue on to the Quenya Name Generator (some assembly required) found here. If you came up with Sindarin, you can happily continue on to the Sindarin Name Generator (some assembly required) found here. |
